It has become our house chores to prepare homemade bread recently. Staying Quarantined with limited resources has changed our mindset. I will discuss a few which I think were advantageous to us the most.
“5 reasons why make HomeMade Bread?”
Here is why I think everyone should make home made bread:
Freshness (delicious)
Control the ingredients ( you know what is being used to make them)
Satisfaction and happiness
Economical
Limited quantity and avoid wastage
Choice of flour and Effective procedures:
Bread flour can be more glutenous compared to all-purpose flour. However, You can achieve softer and milky textured dough with all-purpose. Personally, I prefer all-purpose because it is easy to buy a larger bag of this flour. The flour can support a variety of recipes which include but not limited to cookies, cakes, bread, and other deserts.
I recommend following a recipe that uses all the dry ingredients combination and adding wet ingredients into it. This kind of dough becomes quite voluminous and bounces back.
Another important procedure is folding dough tightly. You can use a single breadlike folding or cut the dough into two separate ones. My recommendation is cutting into two parts and working the way up on rolling up each part into a loaf for further proofing.
“Where to keep bread for Proofing?”
During summer where typical temperatures are about 29C, it usually takes two hours for the first proof and 1.5 hrs for second proof in the bread baking pan.
During winter it will take a longer time for proofing. So, it is recommended to preheat your oven for 1-2 mins, turn-off the heat, and place the dough for proofing until it becomes double the size.
